Don't know about you...but I want Cespedes

I think I'm over Davis, unless we can get him for significantly less money.

I'd love to see the O's make a move on Cespedes. Slide Trumbo into first...

I think he would destroy Camden Yards' left field accessibility...would love to see it happen.

I sure wouldn't mind having him on the team.

Not sure if the rumors are true. Not sure if this is a Buck type of player.

On Monday, Bill Madden of the New York Daily News reported that all of Boston?s coaches ?hate? Cespedes. Madden claims the 29-year-old Cuban outfielder ?marches to his own drum? and that while the Red Sox were initially planning to sign him to a contract extension, those plans were quickly shelved.

30-year-old with a career .805 OPS coming off the best 60-game streak of his career in the middle of a NYC pennant race. Sounds like a great way to pay 6- or 7-win prices for a 3-win player's decline phase.

Ding....ding...ding... This may be why Cespedes is not getting much attention in the market. Prior to the last 60 games with the Mets he was a 2-3 win player. Not a game changer not worth $20MM a year

Now that we hopefully have a left handed hitting outfielder option I hope we go all in on Upton. If we pick up a left hand hitting DH (Jaso?) that would give us 3 regulars in the lineup that are lefty, which should be fine.

I don't trust Davis enough to give him 7 years at that money. Also a thing to consider is we really have nobody in the higher minors that appears to be a potential full time outfielder. We do have 2 first baseman and between the 2 of them hopefully 1 can at least end up being a league average player for that position.

FG shows 1.0 WAR = $8MM in 2016. He may not be a game changer but the market rates are just insane right now. I still see him getting something in the range of $16-$20/year.

I think just other people need to sign before him (Gordon and Upton) to set the market rate.

I agree he's probaly worth the $20MM AAV next year but the contract needs to account for regression in his 30s

If you sign him to a 6/$120MM deal you should still come out ok on it...

2016 4.0

2017 3.6

2018 3.2

2019 2.5

2020 2.0

2021 1.6

TOTAL WAR = 16.90 @ 2016 rate ($8MM/WAR) = $135,200,000.00*

*does not count for yearly inflation

I wouldn't mind signing him in late January to a 1-year deal similar to the one we gave Cruz. He has said he wants to sign the last contract of his career, and no team wants to give it to him. He'd be better off re-entering the market next year. Too bad he couldn't have been offered a QO. Outsmarted himself there.
